Figurative Work.

Over the years I have produced many figurative paintings using my friends and family as subject matter.

I have completed church commissions e.g. St Hilda and the Bishops, a large oil painting in St Hilda’s RC Church
in Northenden; and a painting of St Catherine for St Catherine’s RC Primary School, Didsbury.

I have completed portrait commissions and produced a variety of portraits for exhibition.
I prefer to work from life, but always take backup photographs to help with details later.

Recently I have been working on a series of studies of an engagement party.
I took many photographs of the occasion using the camera in my mobile phone.
The resulting pictures had a strange quality, slightly out of focus in parts with some overlapping figures.
From these photographs I worked to produce photo-realist paintings, working on treated paper in oil paint.
